WAFA ALNUMRI

KG and 1st Grade Arabic, Qur’an, and Islamic Studies

Teaching students the beautiful words of Allah in the poetic language of Arabic has been my life’s work. In the early ’90s, I studied Qur’an Tajweed and Arabic in my home country of Yemen. Shortly after, I migrated to my new home – the United States – and have been teaching in various institutions ever since. My students have ranged from the 3rd grade to graduating high school seniors, to adults in college and beyond. In pursuits of my professional growth, I aim to continue teaching future generations of our Ummah through holistic methods of education, and no better institution to do so than the Tarbiyah Academy.

In addition to my strong Qur’an, Arabic, and Islamic Studies knowledge and teaching experience, the skills I aim to bring to the team Insha Allah include classroom engagement, curriculum design and development, diverse assessment strategies, and cross-cultural understanding. I enjoy facilitating lessons in the rules of Tajweed through collaboration and innovation, equipping students with Islamic articulation. In my classrooms, Arabic dictation and vocabulary are presented creatively and intellectually, while applied Islamic Studies provides youth with critical thinking and guidelines required in and out of the classroom. May Allah guide our joint efforts.
I identify my learning profile is caring.
