MRS. JAMILLAH ABDULLAH

1st Grade Teacher

My name is Mrs. Jamillah Abdullah and I come from a family of educators. Teaching is something I have always enjoyed, whether it is tutoring or leading art and enrichment workshops. However, my journey into early childhood education began while teaching at CREATE Arts Center (a local K-12 non-profit), where I worked for three years, simultaneously contributing to the administrative and curriculum development teams. Homeschooling my two children brought me even deeper into the world of education. Once enrolled at Tarbiyah Academy, I stayed involved in their journey here as an active member of the FTA. For the past two years, I’ve been collaborating with Mrs. K and the PYP team for the “Seeds of Ramadan” project, where each child is sent home with a clay pot, seeds, and a special hadith illuminating Allah’s mercy.

I am overjoyed to be teaching the 1st Grade Class this year at Tarbiyah Academy! I hope to bring my wide-range of skills, enthusiasm and spirited energy into their lives. I currently hold an MFA in Fashion Marketing from LIM College and a BFA in Arts Management & Art History. As an honor student, I embody the learner profile of being a thinker who loves to solve problems with creative solutions. I am also very open-minded, caring and knowledgeable in sewing, horseback riding, drawing and writing. I am currently pursuing MD state certification in education.
