Fatima Ilyas

Assalamualaikum! My name is Fatima, and I am the 8th grade ELA teacher at Tarbiyah Academy. I completed my BA Hons and Masters in English Literature from Kinnaird College, Pakistan, and pursued a teaching career, soon after I moved to the United States. I have been teaching  Middle School ELA in Islamic schools for 7 years and this will be my fourth year at Tarbiyah Academy.

I have always enjoyed teaching English and my aim is to instill in students a love of reading and writing. I want my students to be able to approach the subject with as much joy as I feel in teaching it. I also try to be reflective of my teaching and analyze the strategies that have worked in my class and adapt the ones that were not as successful, hoping to create a comfortable, loving and a positive learning environment for my students.

Some fun facts about me are that I am a Harry Potter fan, and often re-read the novels during my spare time. Also, I’m quite like a child when it comes to chocolate and all deserts related. Finally, I prioritize my time with my children and love to spend time with them and create fun memorable moments.
