Counselor’s Corner
I am honored to be the school counselor here at Tarbiyah Academy. As a school counselor, my responsibility is to promote academic, social, personal, and emotional development of all students. I meet with small groups, individual students, and conduct whole group lessons throughout the year. I work closely with teachers, staff, and families to help understand and meet the needs of our school community. Below are some of the services that are offered.
- Small group counseling sessions focusing on the needs of the students
- Individual meetings to help students adjust to school or help with personal issues on an as needed basis?
- Guidance lessons focusing on topics such as personal/social skills, bullying prevention, and academic development
- Supporting skills development, friendships, conflict resolution, anti-bullying initiatives, and restorative justice practices
- Referral assistance to other programs and services in the community if needed?
An important part of the counseling program focuses on Social Emotional Learning (SEL), which is a process where both children, youth, and adults can increase their ability to understand and manage emotions, work towards positive goals, demonstrate empathy, and make good decisions.?
CASEL, is a school wide guide that can help you become more familiar with SEL practices.
The form below is to grant permission for your child to meet with the counselor. Each family is requested to complete this form stating that you give permission for counseling.
